PLANNING YOUR ALASKA FISHING TRIP

Selecting the best time to plan an Alaska trip begins with several determining factors. From mid-May through late October, the Kenai Peninsula and surrounding waters offer a myriad of Alaska fishing options for a wide variety of species.  Obviously, Alaska king salmon are the primary focus for many Alaska anglers, and the Kenai and neighboring Kasilof host world-class returns of four Pacific salmon species: king salmon, sockeye salmon, silver salmon, and pink salmon. Catch rates, limits, run timing, and eating quality are different for all the different salmon so doing some homework on these factors will help a lot when determining dates and overall goals for your own Alaska fishing adventure.

Alaska lodging is another big choice to consider and again, a multitude of factors will weigh into your decision.  If you have selected the Kenai Peninsula as your destination, this opens a wide variety of accommodation options including everything from tent camping to full-service Alaska fishing lodges.  Most Kenai Peninsula visitors prefer to stay in private, fully furnished vacation homes and use this as the perfect base camp for their Alaska fishing trips.  The Soldotna vicinity offers a vast array of rental choices, both on and off the Kenai River.
